Paintings for a Japanese Golf Club
I was commissioned by the architect Nigel Coates to
paint
two pictures in oil, on canvas 36 inches by 24 inches for a Golf club
he
was designing near Tokyo.
I chose to paint Euan Graham, a neighbor who had retired from
the House of Lords. It may pass for Scotland in the Japanese golf club
where it now hangs but he was standing on the downs by his house in
Wiltshire
at the time. I sometimes like to imagine the
scene.
