I was thrilled by paintings I saw at an exhibition of work by
Elliot Hodgkin, an uncle of the well known Howard Hodgkin. The
catalogue contained an interview with him in which he described his
working method, including the recipe he used for painting in egg
tempera. I tried it and liked it very well. It seems
particularly good for small still lifes.
